Gantry cranes are a variation of bridge cranes, also known as gantry cranes. They are mainly used for loading and unloading operations of goods and bulk materials in outdoor yards and material yards. Gantry cranes are characterized by high site utilization, large operating range, wide adaptability, and strong versatility, and are widely used in port yards.
Its metal structure is like a gate-shaped frame, with two legs installed under the main beam, which can run directly on the ground track, and the main beam can have cantilever beams at both ends.
A gantry crane is a bridge-type crane whose bridge frame is supported on the ground track by legs on both sides. Structurally, it consists of a gantry, a crane traveling mechanism, a lifting trolley, and electrical components. Some gantry cranes only have legs on one side, and the other side is supported on a factory building or a wharf for operation; this is called a semi-gantry crane. The upper bridge frame (including the main beam and end beams), legs, and lower crossbeam of the gantry crane constitute its structure. In order to expand the crane's operating range, the main beam can extend beyond the legs on one side or both sides, forming a cantilever. A crane trolley with a jib can also be used to expand the crane's operating range through jib tilting and rotation.
